Method Prefab and SEED Collaborative unveil Living Building classroom prototype

SEATTLE, Washington – Method Prefab and SEED Collaborative announce they will unveil a self-sustaining modular classroom prototype designed and built to pursue the Living Building Challenge. The prototype – called SEEDclassroom – will launch at the International Living Future Institute’s Living Future unConference, a convention focused on major global issues and innovative solutions in the green building movement. This year’s unConference takes place in downtown Seattle May 15–17. The SEEDclassroom prototype will be on display from May 15–June 18 at Vulcan Real Estate’s South Lake Union Discovery Center.

Method and the SEED Collaborative have joined forces on SEED Classroom, a modular portable classroom designed and built to meet the Living Building Challenge. Join us in unveiling Jasper SEED, the prototype for SEED Classrooms. The prefab learning space will be open to the public during the 2013 Living Future unConference taking place in downtown Seattle May 15–17, 2013. Living Future is the forum for leading minds in the green building movement seeking solutions to major global issues of our time.

Method recently partnered with Cascadia Green Building Council and Built Green on a happy hour event at Urbanata to get ramped up for the Living Future unConference that will take place this Spring in downtown Seattle from May 15–17.
Method at Dwell on Design

Method Homes will be at Dwell on Design 2013, an exposition highlighting the people, products, and ideas that are moving the design industry forward.
Method’s craftsmanship will be on display with Paradigm I, the prototype home for the Paradigm Series by Bogue Trondowski Architects. Paradigm will be featured as the jcpenney Prefab Home, showcasing new home collections from Dwell on Design Keynote Speaker Michael Graves, Jonathan Adler, and Sir Terrance Conran.

On the Set: Greenwood’s Taproot Theatre
Over the past two days, we have been in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood on the set of the new Taproot Theatre Annex. The set was a collaborative effort and a big success. Everything was smooth sailing getting the modules into the city, the cooperative weather (thanks Seattle) and our amazing set crew, allowing us to finish a day earlier than planned.
Here are some highlights – from the modules rolling into town to a preview of the theatre’s new interior.

A Seattle theater is using prefabricated modular units made in a Ferndale factory to speed up a construction project.The Taproot Theater is doubling its space in three days this week with the addition of 21 modules built by Method Prefab.The $3.5 million expansion will house a 100-seat theater and cafe, dressing rooms and offices for the existing 226-seat theater.
