Project Updates: SEED, Elemental Shift, Girdwood Alaska, and more

Late Spring has been busy for Method. In mid-May, we unveiled the SEED Classroom prototype in downtown Seattle with our partners the SEED Collaborative. The Classroom is targeting the Living Building Challenge and has been receiving a great response throughout the Living Future unConference and beyond. SEED will be open for public tours in Seattle through mid-June and has already been visited by hundreds of students, teachers, school officials, and the public.

On the Set: Greenwood’s Taproot Theatre

Over the past two days, we have been in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood on the set of the new Taproot Theatre Annex. The set was a collaborative effort and a big success. Everything was smooth sailing getting the modules into the city, the cooperative weather (thanks Seattle) and our amazing set crew, allowing us to finish a day earlier than planned.

Here are some highlights – from the modules rolling into town to a preview of the theatre’s new interior.

Taproot Theatre Ready to Ship

Method is extremely excited to be wrapping Taproot Theatre modules for their trip to the site next week. The 21-module set of the expansion will take place over three days in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood. Stay tuned as we document the set of over 8,000 square feet of modular.

Friday Harbor Method Cabin Nearing Completion

The Method team is nearing completion on our second Friday Harbor Method Cabin. The new cabin is a Model 3 from our Cabin Series by Balance Associates Architects. The home is scheduled to leave the shop early next week for a barge trip out to the San Juan Islands.

Taproot Theatre in Progress

Serving over 100,000 people annually, Seattle’s Taproot Theatre is the city’s largest mid-size professional theatre company, offering a 6-show Mainstage season, touring programs, and acting classes.

Method Homes — acting under its commercial division Method Prefab — has been working on the construction of a 21 unit multi-use modular expansion for the theatre. The new 12,000 square foot adaptive space includes dressing rooms, offices, scene workshop, lobby and cafe/wine bar.
