Palm Springs, California – Prefab builder Method Homes announces their participation in this year’s Modernism Week in Palm Springs, California, where they will display their sustainable prefab prototype, Paradigm. The modern prefab is designed and built to meet net-zero water and energy requirements. Modernism Week is a non-profit organization that hosts an annual 11-day festival celebrating Mid-Century Modern art, architecture, and design. The events lineup includes a Prefab Showcase and Modern Design Expo from Feb 15–17 and Feb 21–23.

Just in time for the Holidays, Seattle’s Taproot Theatre Unwraps a Brand New Modular Building

Seattle, Washington – Taproot Theatre Company has plenty to celebrate this holiday season. In addition to the world premiere of Le Club Noel, a Christmas play with music written by Candace and Sam Vance, it will open the long-awaited addition to its building, The Kendall Center, which houses a new café and wine bar, lobby, black box theatre, scene shop, and administrative offices.

In addition to identifying a Washington Green 50 list of outstanding organizations, the magazine recognized winners in 12 categories drawn from across the state and from virtually every sector of the economy. Method Homes was awarded silver recognition in the manufacturing category.

Habitat for Humanity Celebrates Completion of Hybrid Modular Net-Zero Home Prototype

Seattle, Washington – On Thursday October 24, 2013, Habitat for Humanity, Method Homes, and project partners celebrated the completion of the Habitat for Humanity House of the Immediate Future (HOIF) in Seattle’s Columbia City neighborhood. Developed in collaboration with a “dream team” of Seattle-area green design and energy experts, the four bedroom, 1,400 square foot home utilizes design focused on sustainability, efficiency, and affordability. Approximately one year after being on display at the Seattle Center, a family of six selected through the Habitat for Humanity South King County (SKC) homebuyer program will move into their new home in its permanent location. Method Prefab and SEED Collaborative unveil Living Building classroom prototype

SEATTLE, Washington – Method Prefab and SEED Collaborative announce they will unveil a self-sustaining modular classroom prototype designed and built to pursue the Living Building Challenge. The prototype – called SEEDclassroom – will launch at the International Living Future Institute’s Living Future unConference, a convention focused on major global issues and innovative solutions in the green building movement. This year’s unConference takes place in downtown Seattle May 15–17. The SEEDclassroom prototype will be on display from May 15–June 18 at Vulcan Real Estate’s South Lake Union Discovery Center.

Modular Taproot Theatre Renovation takes Shape

SEATTLE, Washington – Taproot Theatre Company moves closer to doubling its footprint and growing its presence in the growing Greenwood arts district as it takes delivery of prefabricated modular building units which will house a new black box theatre, café, scene shop, dressing rooms, and office space.

The arrival of the building components, constructed by Method Prefab, should cause quite a stir as they are delivered in 21 modular units by semi-truck over the course of three days beginning on April 1st, for placement on the adjacent site of the former Eleanor Roosevelt Building, which burned down in October 2009. The Taproot team opted for modular construction as a way to expand into available space more quickly and cost effectively. Final outside finish details will unite the new modular components with the existing theater building by Buchanan, who will be celebrating their 1,000th job with the project.
