Paradigm Prototype from Method Homes is Now Available
The Paradigm I prototype is the first of its kind, achieving the highest standards in green building and coming fully loaded with a modern package of luxury furnishings, energy-efficient technologies, and high-tech features.
Method Homes is now offering the opportunity to purchase its Paradigm Series home prototype starting from 179k. This high-tech, deeply sustainable 700sft prefab is perfect for a primary residence, guesthouse/MIL, office, cabin, work studio, winery suite, or retreat space.
Method Homes has partnered with a stellar group of sponsors to make the Paradigm prototype a unique residential home. American Solar installed LG’s photovoltaic 4kW solar system, which sits on Sun Modo’s solar racking rest that is heat welded to the roof membrane without penetrating. This, in addition to Mecho Systems’ automated shading system, Insulfoam’s R-28 recyclable foam insulation, Thermafiber’s R-45 ceiling batt and R-31 wall insulation, and Juno Lighting Group’s WarmDim zero mercury LED lighting technology, will enable Paradigm to comfortably produce all it’s own energy needs, allowing it to go on or off the grid.
The home also features technologies requiring low inputs of energy, including LG Hausys’ appliance package (dishwasher, 2 LED TV’s, dual washer/dryer, 3 door French refrigerator, induction cooktop, and HVAC system), Big Ass Fans’ Haiku ceiling fan (requiring 80% less energy than conventional fans), and Panasonic’s WhisperGreen exhaust fan and energy recovery ventilator. These technologies as well as AO Smith’s hybrid heat pump and hot water heater can in part be controlled remotely from Lutron’s home automation system, closing the loop in efficiencies for this high-tech home.
The Paradigm prefab also has the capability of capturing and recycling all of its own water in addition to being net zero energy. The home features Corgal’s galvanized steel water retention tank that can capture and filter up to 5,000 gallons of rainwater. Flotender’s greywater system filters domestic water from the kitchen and bathroom sinks and shower, which features a linear drain by Infinity Drain. Water is then dispersed into a vegetable garden planted with Sunnyside Organics seedlings. The Paradigm prefab reaches net zero water with the use of Eco Dry’s urine diverting toilet for composting systems and low flow water Axor bathroom and kitchen fixtures from Hans Grohe.
Thanks to Method’s partners, the Paradigm prefab is built with the greenest materials available for indoor air quality, including Zero VOC paints by Sherwin Williams, FSC non-formaldehyde Bamboo cabinets from Urbanata, renewable bamboo hardwood flooring and decking from Bamboo Hardwoods, and Certainteed’s recycled content mold-resistant gypsum board. Siga provided VOC and formaldehyde-free tapes and membranes, and FSC and non-formaldehyde wood for construction by Roseburg was fastened together by recycled steel and zinc nails by Maze. The home also features a custom installed series of non-off gassing Resource Furniture, including a murphy bed, couch, adjustable desk, and dining room set.
This amazing home combines form and function in unparalleled style. The structure features Sustainable Northwest Wood’s local FSC Western Red Cedar cladding and siding and a window wall by Western Window Systems that expands the home’s living space to the outdoors, along with Cascadia’s triple glazed windows and doors, Daltile’s kitchen and bath eco-tile, and Squak Mountain Stone’s custom kitchen countertops made from recycled content.
The Paradigm prototype is eligible for 6 of 7 petals of Living Building Challenge — based on its final location — including Energy, Water, Health, Equity, Beauty, and Site. The Paradigm will also be certified LEED Platinum.
